Hi , 🎃
There are many foods that I have replaced or removed from my diet. One of them is wheat. I switched to organic and then organic sprouted. I even created my own sourdough starter and made my own bread; which is really yummy and my body doesn't
seem to be affected by it. Problem is, I just want more when I do have it! Why is that?
It turns out that modern wheat can have affects on the body that mimic opiate-like responses (heroin, morphine and oxycontin are opiates).
Turns out that when gliadin (a breakdown of gluten) is broken down in the digestive system, it passes
through the blood brain barrier and binds to opiate receptors in the brain - affecting mood and appetite...hmmm...
Here are some of the symptoms you may experience:
- **Digestive Issues**: Many people experience bloating, gas, or diarrhea after consuming wheat. This can be a sign of gluten sensitivity or celiac
disease.
- **Neurological Symptoms**: Some individuals may have brain fog, headaches, or fatigue, which can occur after consuming wheat products. So if you want your memory back - stop the wheat 😉
- **Mood Changes**: Anxiety or depression can be affected by wheat, particularly in those with sensitivities (this is the opiate affect).
- **Cravings and Withdrawal**: Similar to addictive substances, you may experience strong cravings for wheat products and feel irritable or fatigued when trying to cut them from their diet (another opiate response).
- **Inflammation and Joint Pain**: In some cases, wheat can trigger inflammation, leading to joint pain and other symptoms.
If you are suspecting wheat to be a problem, I'm just a consult away.
Happy Halloween 🧙♀️👻👺
