Hi , 🙂
First I want to say Thank You for all the well wishes regarding my mom. 🙏❣️
I hope you had a great long weekend!
Do bugs love to bite you during the summer season?
Do you get large swollen red welts?
Do you find anti-histamines helpful?
When insects bite you, they inject 'special' compounds through their saliva that can really be
irritating.
Your immune system may see these compounds as foreign and sends in an army of histamine for protection. That's where the redness comes from - it's inflammation. Ironically, it's part of the healing process.
But for some people, the response may be beyond this normal/red itching response.
It could actually be a histamine issue.
To summarize, you may have an issue with the saliva compounds, histamine or both!
If you have a histamine issue, you'll react to any over production of histamine no matter what it is (mold, cheese, wine,
pollen...).
There's something that may be helpful - Diamine Oxidase (DAO). It's an enzyme that breaks down histamine. If you you don't have enough DAO in your body, you'll start getting allergic-type responses.
Here are some things that you can do to improve your DAO:
- Increase consumption of zinc, Vitamin B6 and C
- Eat natural, whole foods, grass fed protein
- Increase intake of low histamine producing probiotics
- Increase your Omega 3 fats
- Reduce your Omega 6 fats
- those are the refined vegetable/nut/seed oils you find in the grocery stores
- Temporarily reduce your intake of high histamine foods, so that your body can play catch-up
- Get yourself a DAO enzyme (tricky to find in Canada), a product containing quercetin/nettle/Vitamin C OR even a homeopathic called Histaminum.
If you're still struggling, my in person/remote cold laser technique may be an alternate option.
Hope you get to enjoy the bugs this summer!
