My mother
fell and broke her hip. She's 97 years old. Waited almost 4 days for surgery and no food/water until surgery was done - only saline via IV.
Between the lack of food, lack of sleep, the hydro-morphone (a version of morphine), she had hallucinations, panic attacks and seemed almost psychotic at times. Mom is less than 90 lbs! We ended up taking turns sleeping at the hospital as she was trying to get up and go home. Imagine
trying to stand with a broken hip! They also did an extra x-ray of her spine which confirmed she also had a hairline fracture. 😥
I think she's finally on the mend, the medications are now out of her system - other than the Tylenol and looks like she's starting to get stronger and she's walking a little bit with a walker. It will take time. She's doing physiotherapy; rehab is the next step.
My siblings and I have been making some food for her to help bring up her hemoglobin levels - homemade is always better than the hospital food.
I've been doing some homeopathic remedies to support her bone (Symphytum officinale - ie. comfrey) and tissue (Ruta Graveolens - ie. rue) healing; as well as, LED (light) and PEMF (pulsed electro magnetic field) therapy. The nurses
think she's doing amazingly well for her age. Strong genes! I hope I got them too!
On the lighter side of things, I love my country and found this great video about Canada (not sure if you've seen it). It's light and fun and just over 3 minutes long. Enjoy....
